Our Minister

At present, the chapel has a Ministry Team. The team is led by:

Reverend Amanda (Mandy) Reynolds

I have a Christian background (both free church and Anglican in various shades) but have been attending the Chapel since I moved to Kendal in August 2010. I have been interested in Interfaith dialogue for a number of years and am a member of the World Congress of Faiths as well as treasurer of the South Lakes Interfaith Forum. I started training as an interfaith minister with the OneSpirit Interfaith Foundation in October 2013 and was ordained as a minister in July 2015. During my training, I learnt more about different faith traditions. This enhanced my understanding and also added to the richness of my spiritual practice. I am now learning how to be comfortable inhabiting the space between faiths, but increasingly I am drawn to Taoism and earth-based spirituality as well as to a more traditional, contemplative approach. But, I view life as a journey and hope that I will always remain open hearted as well as inquisitive, in a bookish way.

Members of the Ministry Team:

Mr Graham Phoenix
Graham has only been a member at Kendal Chapel for about one year and has only been active in Unitarianism for around four years. He took early retirement from BAE Systems (originally British Aerospace) in 2011, after 21 years working as an Aircraft Systems Engineer (initially Hawk and latterly Eurofighter Typhoon). Prior to this, he spent over 20 years in the Army (R.E.M.E.), specialising in the modification and maintenance of military telecommunications, computing and control electronics systems, leaving the Army as a senior Warrant Officer. During this time he completed a BSc Honours degree with the Open University. Graham is undergoing worship leader training and is currently part way through the Advanced Worship Studies Course. The motivation for this simply being to be able to assist locally, to a limited extent, in the absence of a properly trained Minister.

Mr John Pickering
