Peter christening Jaynie Anne Patricia

The practice of bringing children to a place of worship for dedication and naming (sometimes known as Christening) is an ancient one. The celebration of a new life seems to be a natural inclination of humankind since it is still the practice today, even in families where there is no tradition of churchgoing or commitment to a recognized faith. When a new life is celebrated in a Unitarian church, we affirm the inherent worth of that person and his or her potential for their future. It will add to your child's happiness in later life to know that people gathered together on a special occasion to affirm his or her life.
