Mansfield Unitarians - The Old meeting House

Mansfield Unitarians

Dear Members, Friends, Visitors!

As you know the government has given permission from July 4th for Places of Worship to reopen as long as they comply with the Covid Guidelines. I know that many of you are longing for us to go back to our chapel, to our activities and our community.

However we ask your patience and understanding a little longer as currently we are not in the situation to open the Old Meeting House - without risking each other`s safety and health.

We will continue to offer our virtual programmes and Sunday Services, together with the weekly Newsletter for those who cannot join us in Zoom. We will continue to keep in touch by social media, letter, telephone and I will be in the OMH Garden every Saturday morning for those who wish to meet me. The Trustees and the Committee are working to ensure our safe return and will review the situation in the coming months.

Even scattered, even distanced from each other, we are and we remain a community, taking to heart at this time the words of the apostle : "...make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others."

Below you can check out the Covid- 19 Risk Assessment for the Old Meeting House.

Everyone is welcome!

Covid-19 Risk Assessment Up-Date.

We are pleased to inform you that we consider we are well on track with our preparations for the opening of the Chapel on 1st September 2020, and due to the ongoing work and efforts put in by our cleaning staff, we have managed to down-grade all of the risks highlighted in our first Assessment.

It is our intention to review this document again on the 14th of September (two weeks after the Chapel opens) to check that all recommendations have been implemented and working.

We are still following Government advice on the opening of Church buildings, the Trustees will be constantly reviewing this Risk Assessment, the following pages lay out the "new normal" as regards to cleaning procedures and how the Congregation will be expected to conduct themselves up to the time when we can safely say we are "Covid free".

We have changed many things to make it safe for us to gather in the Meeting House, so please make sure you are up-to-date with the new "rules" by reading this Assessment, (it also appears on our web site) and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact any Trustee, Committee Member or Sunday Steward for clarification.

And remember these alterations have been put into place to keep you all safe and well when attending the Old Meeting House.

Covid-19 Risk Assessment.

The committee and trustees of the Old Meeting House Mansfield consider the wellbeing and Safety of the Congregation and employees to be of upmost importance. To that end they reluctantly took the decision to close the Chapel and buildings in March this year due to Covid-19, the first time the Chapel has been closed since it was opened in 1702.

Now this virus is past its peak it is now time to start opening our buildings again, starting with the Chapel. The Chapel will be open for Services from the 1st September 2020.

Following Government advice on the opening of Church buildings the Trustees have produced this Risk Assessment, the following pages lay out the "new normal" as regards to cleaning procedures and how the Congregation will be expected to conduct themselves up to the time when we can safely say we are "Covid free".
