Stalybridge Unitarian Church offers a warm welcome to all couples who wish to get married here. You do not need to be members of the church and we welcome couples from any religious background or none. The Minister is always willing to consider remarriage for those who have been divorced.

If you wish to enquire about being married here please attend a morning service, any Sunday at 11.00am, after which the Minister or one of the church officers will discuss this with you.

The fee for a wedding here is £550. A non-refundable deposit of £100 is required at the time of booking.

The Minister and congregation would appreciate the opportunity to get to know you before the wedding date and so you are invited to join us for our services when you are able. Services are held every Sunday at 11.00 am. We also want you to feel at home here because your wedding will then mean far more to you than if you walk into an unfamiliar building on the day.

You both need to enter a notice of intention to marry, in person, with the Registrar of the registration district in which you live. If you live in different districts you will need to register in both. There is a fee for this, contact your local office for details. For Stalybridge (and the rest of Tameside) residents the Register Office is at Dukinfield Town Hall. It is advisable to telephone first for an appointment on 0161 342 5032. Also check what documentation you need to have with you when you attend. You may need your birth certificates with you and if either of you has been divorced you must take the Decree Absolute paper.

You will need two witnesses to sign the registers, traditionally the best man and the chief bridesmaid but they do not have to be. You will also need at least one person, preferably two, to give out sheets or hymn books and show people to their seats.

If you wish to provide flowers to decorate the church please speak to the Minister. You may bring your own flowers or for a nominal fee the flower secretary will arrange for extra flowers to be in church that day.

Photographs may be taken in the church grounds both before and after the service. A video recording may be made with prior arrangement. Video operators must hold a copyright protection license.

A rehearsal will be held sometime during the final couple of weeks before the ceremony, you should speak to the Minister to arrange this.
