Dawn is an, almost, life-long Unitarian, beginning with Sunday School and Brownies at Stand Chapel, Whitefield at the age of 7. She has been involved with leading worship since her teens. Later, she served on what was the GA Worship Committee for many years and her worship leading skills continue to be in demand locally and regionally.
She was a member of the GA Task Force, served as GA President 2004-05 and was elected to the first GA Executive Committee following re-organisation. She is currently a member of the GA Meetings Steering Group and the Constitutional Review Group and serves on the executive committee of the British and Foreign Unitarian Association.
Dawn chaired the GA Education and Training Commission for many years being instrumental, with others, in establishing the successful Worship Studies Course for lay worship leaders; REvolution, a course for congregational leaders of young people's groups; and, publishing Help is at Hand, a manual for church officers. She assisted in the maintenance of Summer School, the Chalice Award Scheme, facilitation skills training and engagement group support. She continues to serve on the Training Action Group. She is an occasional tutor at Unitarian College Manchester and was President of the college 2009-12.
Dawn spent 35 years working in education as a teacher, advisor, lecturer and schools' inspector. Her other interests are in the fields of dance and theatre.
