Until recently, there were very few dwellings in the immediate area, yet the membership included many literary and cultural people in the locality. The Congregation was established in 1802 at Lloyd Jack Farm, Vale of Aeron, and outbuildings in which services were held can still be seen. The chapel dating from 1848, is attractive and compact with an adjoining chapel house and schoolroom upstairs.

The interior is preserved with a three-sided pine gallery, pews and pulpit, oil-lamps and clock. In the chapel is a Memorial to Dr. Daniel Jones who willed money for the purposes of the then Manchester College in Oxford as well as to the congregation and minister of Rhydygwin.
